Arrangements
Melissa will offer as many programs as you can fit into your school-day schedule. She needs 5-10 minutes between programs and 30 minutes for lunch. For live visits, Melissa prefers to be in one room, such as the school library, cafeteria, or auditorium, and have students come and go. Her maximum audience size ranges from 30 to 90 students, depending on the program.
| If you are located more than 60 miles from Acton, MA, please add mileage plus meals, and lodging if necessary. |
| If you are located more than 100 miles from Acton, MA, a multi-day visit is required. You can coordinate with other schools or libraries in your area to split the costs, or check with Melissa to see if your location might fit into her existing travel schedule. |

| $200 per hour for teachers’ workshops and public library or evening programs. |
| Funding Sources |
Because Melissa is a Massachusetts Cultural Council Creative Teaching Partner, grants may be available to fund her visits to Massachusetts schools. |
Schools and libraries may also use a variety of other sources to sponsor author visits, including Title I, district, PTA/PTO, grants from local organizations or business groups, and funds from the sale of Melissa’s books. |
Books are available from Melissa’s publishers at a 40% discount for author visits. Selling these books at cover price can help you to fund a visit. |
