Dur­ing this engag­ing, inter­ac­tive ses­sion, Melis­sa gives a tour of her office — includ­ing her Idea Board, man­u­script grave­yard, and book­shelves full of research mate­ri­als — and answers ques­tions stu­dents have pre­pared in advance. Stu­dents also have an oppor­tu­ni­ty to share their infor­ma­tion­al writ­ing projects and dis­cuss the chal­lenges they face as writ­ers with Melis­sa. This pro­gram works espe­cial­ly well when stu­dents are in the mid­dle of their infor­ma­tion­al writ­ing unit.
