Behind the Book

“While researching this book, I learned about a great project at Yerington High School in Yerington, Nevada. Students are trapping sage grouse, collecting their blood, and studying the DNA inside their cells to determine the range of the endangered southern population. Their results will help lawmakers decide how to protect the birds. I interviewed two students and was impressed by their knowledge and dedication.”
