Behind the Book

“I’ve writ­ten about dol­phins lots of times, but this was the first time I’ve focused on com­par­ing them to sharks. My research includ­ed a trip to the New Eng­land Aquar­i­um to see the great white sharks in their giant tank. I also pulled out the jour­nal I kept dur­ing my trip to the Gala­pa­gos Islands. Dur­ing that amaz­ing trip, pods of dol­phins swam in our boat’s wake as we cruised from one island to the next. “While I didn’t share my first­hand expe­ri­ences in the book, my notes from these adven­tures cer­tain­ly informed my text.”
